Fallout Gets Renewed For Season 3, Season 2 Date And Teasers Revealed

Amazon Prime's highly successful live-action adaptation of the Fallout series has today confirmed it will be returning this December.

This will mark the beginning of Season 2, which will reportedly pick up after the "aftermath of Season One's epic finale" and is set to take viewers on a journey across the "wasteland of Mojave" and also visit the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas. You can watch the teasers right now:

With more than 100 million viewers tuning into the first season, Amazon has also gone ahead and locked in the third season of the show. We obviously don't have any details about this season at this early stage, but when we hear more we'll be sure to let you know.

Fallout's TV series has proven to be so popular, the first season boosted the playerbase of the games - with rumours even suggesting at one stage Xbox was looking to fast-track development of future games to capitalise on the success of the show.

Fallout is brilliant. It was very clever of them to basically take the 3 main player archetypes (saint, sinner & morally grey) and turn them into 3 equally engaging main characters. Neatly sidestepped the "this isn't my Fallout" discussions, there's a little for everyone. Can't wait for more and see what they do in NV.

@Ricky-Spanish I really enjoyed TLOU Season 1 (i'm behind on Season 2) but as someone who's played the games I prefer Fallout because it's a brand new story that adds to the world. Whereas as a direct adaptation I just find myself comparing the TV show to the game of TLOU. I am interested how they adapt season 2, as it's harder to do verbatim, but i'm only a couple of episodes in.

I loved the first season, and cannot wait for the second. I'm glad it did so well that it justifies a third season. I know they were talking about 5 or 6 seasons in total, so it's good to see that they are moving ahead with their plans.

The Fallout and Last of Us shows are real highs for television in general, let alone ones born of games. It's a far cry from a time when we had such poor film and television versions of our favourite games.

Still miffed that they cancelled Halo though. The first season was pretty good, and the second one better still...

I too enjoyed the first season of TLoU, @themightyant, though I won't start watching the second one until all episodes are out (which I think it in 2 weeks).

I think the producers made three mistakes with that series though; Ramsey is the wrong actress for the role. I thought she did a reasonable job in the first season, but that was mostly because she looked the age (or thereabouts) of the character she was playing. However, it was obvious to anyone that Ramsey was never going to look the right age for the second season. Plus, Ramsey is one of those actors who really only has one dimension of delivery. I just don't think she has the acting chops to show character development as occurred from game one to game two.

Secondly, Dever (who is playing Abby) seems wrong to me because it's as if they seem to have gone with looks over muscular size, which is just wrong for the portrayal of the character concerned. And I've said this from the moment both actresses were announced. I've yet to see how she performs the role, so I may yet be proven wrong in terms of her demonstrating the sheer anger, venom and physical presence that Abby has.

Then thirdly, where there was (from memory) a 5 year time jump between the first and second games, they could have used seasons 2 and 3 to tell completely original stories, which would have served both to give us more seasons, give Joel a little longer to be around, and possibly allow Ramsey to age a little (though I think she is one of those people that will have an eternally youthful appearance)...

@themightyant Both are great series I'm with you on fallout being more enjoyable for me personally aswell!
I played the first last of us game but not the second game so I'm kinda blind on this apart from the big death plus the misses loves it aswell!!
The fallout series I watch solo she's not into it ha!

@Fiendish-Beaver Hard disagree on Bella Ramsay, I think she's excellent in every scene. It's a different Ellie, but that's fine, it's an adaptation, she doesn't have to be a 1:1 clone.

I haven't seen enough of Kaitlin Dever yet, but I did see Ep 2 and she was great. Only time will tell if the lack of physical bulk is important for the adapted story they are trying to tell. Again it doesn't have to be 1:1. In fact, as i've already played the game, I'd welcome changes. But I realise that won't please everyone.

As for a 5 year time jump. Does this have to be significant? What if it's just a 2 years time jump? Does it really matter? Things like that don't bother me at all. But I respect that you feel differently.

Loved Fallout and can't wait for Season 2 especially since it looks like it will take place in New Vegas.

I loved the first season. Not sure if it needs another season though. Similar with The Last of Us.

Absolutely loved the first season. Cant wait for the second series. Goggins is a legend in his role!
