With what’s going on now, after I played through Hellblade 2, I will be selling my Xbox, cancelling Xbox game pass, and buy gears 6 on PC.
Xbox is just becoming less and less attractive, and I also got a PS5 and switch. I almost get the feeling we all might end up with Nintendo again and have come full circle, back to the roots where gaming was more fun. It seems Nintendo are the only ones who focus on making fun games instead of following toxic trends.
@CutchuSlow you need to play at east Yakuza 0 and maybe also 1 first to get more into the later games. Otherwise you will be missing a lot of context that.
Whatever happened between 2012-2017, as well as after 2018. Let’s hope the trend doesn’t go there as the new standard. 2007 - 2011 seemed to have been amazing years.
I honestly don’t care who is releasing games. I just want good games. If devs overall released more robust games, I would feel less of the draughts. Instead recently it’s just a ton of pixel side scroller games or broken AAA experiences that need to be patched for 6 or more months.
Here I like anybody who releases demos and gets me hooked. That way I bought several Square ENIX and Capcom games
Question is also how many first parties they are showing. Could be just one first party. Xbox burned me too often, I keep my expectations in check, but still looking forward to watching it.
What’s funny though is that the game is only listed in the Xbox store in Japan, but not part of the physical game collection on the SE website and not even mentioned in the email I received about the game.
So I would say at least in Japan many may end up thinking it won’t come to Xbox anyway.
@BrilliantBill
It’s rather simple though.
You can ignore a lot of options depending on your TV.
You got VRR and 120hz TV? You want ray tracing? Unlocked fidelity + RT
You got no VRR, but 120hz? Go for balanced mode
No “fiddling around”. Just different options for various TV features. Over time the amount of options will decrease with the increase of market share of 120hz +VRR capable TVs
40fps + RT on single player games any day for me. It is often the recommended option of DF if a 40fps mode exists. But also the reason I stay away from the Series S. I don’t see Series S as true next/current gen if it can’t deliver what Series X can at lower resolution.
It’s fine if they announce they are working on things, since it also serves for the hiring process.
But they shouldn’t announce release dates more than 6 months in advance. It’s the constant delays that annoy people.
Ah yeah accessing more games, such as me being able to use play Starfield on PS5? Or Hellblade 2?
I’m sure Call of Duty will remain on PS5 for a few years, but I’m also sure all other games will become Xbox exclusives.
I’m fine with the deal going through since I own both consoles, so it’s a win for me, but I don’t buy Microsoft’s talk about “We want people to have more access to games, not less”, because they have already proven otherwise.
I feel the problem will really be when a mode on PS5/XSX runs at 1080p, what does that mean for the XSS then? Most “performance” modes already run at 1080/1440p, so the XSS can’t have the same performance mode at 1080p unless the graphics are set to much lower. But what if XSX performance mode runs 1080p/60 at lowest graphical settings for a game? Does the XSS then do 540p/60 or simply have no performance mode?
That’s the problem I see. We talk about XSX running at 4K and XSS running at 1080p/1440p. But rarely do games actually run 4K on XSX already. And the amount of games running 4K will only decrease.
I thought of NOT buying COD because I thought it would come to Gamepass and then play it on my XSX. But I guess since it’s not, I will get it for PS5 (my main console). This is the exact result Sony actually wanted, and I can understand that from a business point of view
Alien isolation is the one that made me go crazy the most. In any other horror game the horror sequences are predictable and you can mentally prepare yourself. You also often get room to breathe. But alien isolation is quite unpredictable and you are under constant pressure. The save spots are also not always in “safe zones”, so you might get killed trying to save.
This was more of a “catching up with competitors” show. The thing that would draw Japanese gamers in though is playing on a mobile phone. So for me, a gamer in Japan, this had nothing I didn’t already play, but since some NEW games come to Gamepass, it was at least a bit interesting.
But man… that woman who couldn’t even say “konnichiwa minna-san”. How difficult can that be to rehearse.
@trev666 They are. They gave up on making battlefield 2042 “the last game that will stay forever” and are already working on a new one because it flopped so hard.
Currently, I personally find more games I’m interested in at PS Plus than Gamepass.
I think it’s mostly due to the JRPG games. It makes it feel like PS Plus has more quality titles compared to Gamepass.
Gamepass feels more like an indie library, while PS Plus feels more like having more AA and B production level games.
But I guess there will be times it will be the opposite. Best to have them both I would say.
@Shigurui the PS5 demo offered RT-like shadows and GI. Same quality, just less real time and less taxing. It is still maybe even an RT-based solution, I didn’t read much into the technicalities of Lumen and how it works.
I’m fine either way. I have enough imagination to fill the gap. As long as they don’t do a bad job as Destiny 2 did for a time, it can work very well (e.g. FFXIV).
I wonder if I should try jumping into it as solo player. The times I tried to use matchmaking was a horrible experience, everybody is so toxic. (No I got no gamer friends who play this game)
I don’t need AAA games, but the games on Gamepass that appeal to me are very few. But still enough for me to at least break even with the cost. So as long as I can at least break even on average in the total time I own Gamepass, it’s fine for me to subscribe.
I won’t hold my breath. They better not try to rush it now to somehow win back the time lost. Hope they decide to delay for a few months to make sure it doesn’t end up unfinished.
I personally prefer the PS5 UI. It’s simply focused on games. It only shows me what I need to see at any given time. On my Xbox I have no idea where to even look at, everything looks so chaotic and unorganized.
Every Sony showcase they showed the game. It’s not like I specifically click on a Deathloop trailer. This year events and showcases just threw that game too often into my face so that I feel I already know all ins and outs of the game and therefore don’t have to play it.
They tried to hard to sell the game.
I would feel the same about any Sony first party title if it was done for them as well. I’m fine if you announce a game, then maybe show some quick gameplay segments. And then maybe have a state of play. But Deathloop had much more than that.
And from what I read in the reviews, I don’t think I need to play it after having seen so much of it already.
@SplooshDmg then you shouldn’t worry.
The demo was also a bit too much for me so I dropped it after a few minutes, but I still liked the combat system in general and the characters and world.
You will see that the game is ramping up quite nicely. Not too much information at once and also combat wise it is taking its time and I feel being well balanced in giving you a good sense of progress while not overwhelming you.
I think there is a good reason why this game is rated higher than most Tales of games. It was a bit of a gamble for me as well but so far I really like it.
@SplooshDmg I couldn’t even get into vesperia at all as well, but I’m playing Arise now and am really hooked so far (already released in Japan). I actually had a hard time getting into any JRPGs recently except for FF7R and DQXI. The graphics of Arise alone already make it a lot more fun to play, as the world is a lot more convincing.
It’s actually quite comparable to FFXII, just more modern.
The DualSense controller is one of the main reasons why the PS5 is my main console. Whenever a game has good support for it, even if it lands on Gamepass on XSX, I rather play it on PS5.
Most games I’m interested in unfortunately only release in 2022 or 2023. This year it’s only HALO for me and maybe maybe Psychonauts.
I still find more games I want to play to be on PS5 only (mostly console exclusives, or better performance or good DualSense implementation), even though I got game pass.
As a guy with some Russian roots, the music felt super nostalgic to me and I am now even more looking forward to it. That song was super popular back in the day and it is quite a fun joke of the devs to put it into the trailer.
Hm, but will it have a 4K mode?
Unless their reconstruction tech is amazing, I am scared of how bad it will look, running at a DYNAMIC 1080p on a 4K screen.
I chose the Xbox version over PlayStation because it might end up having a higher resolution
@bort118
Because the PS5 didn’t really get any upgrades except for the menus now being 60fps.
Useless to me, since my main platform for multiplayers is PlayStation because I live in Japan and simply have a hell lot more of players for matchmaking through that, mostly thanks to Korea as well.
One would have thought Blizzard has the resources to do a proper PS5 upgrade as well.
As a developer myself I expected that already. I’ve been wondering if they could just remove the fades at least, but who knows if that might make other things look awkward later on.
Mind you this is not a AAA game. It doesn’t even get much marketing. But people somehow expect it to be of same quality as Destiny etc.
At least this game has the power fantasy and loot system going for it, which all other “looters” pretty much fail to get right.
I enjoy the demo and preordered the game. It won’t win any awards, but it is a fun game for me and more of a looter shooter than all other looter shooters.
With a smaller budget you need to prioritize. And with outriders it seems most of the budget went into developing a very good loot and progression system.
It’s very good they put a demo out there, so people get their expectations straight. So you can’t buy the game and give it a bad score when the demo already wasn’t for you.

Re: Xbox: 'You Are Going To See More Of Our Games On More Platforms'
That’s why I sold my Xbox.
More games will come to PS5. Some games land on game pass so I might play them on my PC to save some money.
I mentally already accepted Xbox to become more of a game publisher with an affordable gaming PC alternative (=XSX) rather than console maker.
They showed a bunch of good games coming to game pass.
