@Spider-Kev Watching a film at 24fps is very different to playing a game at 24fps. Modern TV's actually make lower framerates feel terrible, 30fps on a 120hz screen feels far worse then 30fps on a 60hz screen released 10 years back.
@OldGamer999 Yeah i've been thinking for a while that MS may go 3rd party like Sega while keeping Xbox as an actual Gamepass machine instead of a proper console. End of the day they're never getting a bigger game then Starfield until ES6 drops in 10 years time and like you said it didn't really do anything for Xbox, sure it increased console sales for like a week but as i said as soon as CP2077 2.0 update dropped everyone stopped talking and caring about the supposed biggest release this year that isn't called Zelda, hell even Baldur's Gate 3 stole Starfield's thunder. Personally i feel Phil's on borrowed time, his legacy may look very "pro-consumer" but i don't think its done much for Xbox and the likes of Gamepass and BC while great haven't really sold Xbox in the way a big 1st party PS game sells PS4/PS5's or Zelda and Mario sell Switch's. I hope things change but Xbox's fate was ultimately set in the stone with the X1 reveal/E3, they never really recovered from that and it tainted Xbox's image beyond repair.
@OldGamer999 To be clear right away i love Starfield and its easily in my top 5 games this year. I'm amazed at how forgotten the game feels all ready, like as soon as 2.0 dropped for CP2077 all the remaining hype for SF just went and i feel it really shows how little people care for Xbox, Spider-Man 2 is coming soon and it already it feels like the most hyped game since TotK to the point i'm already seeing ads on normal bog standard TV something you rarely see for VG's that aren't Fifa or Zelda/Mario. I think between MS's utter indifference to exclusives and Gamepass making gaming feel like Netflix the hype for Starfield couldn't last beyond a week or two. End of the day like Sony or not but they make games like God of War, Horizon and Spider-Man feel like actual gaming events you must be part off, they market the hell out of them and they keep that hype rolling after, is Starfield going to sell Xbox's this Xmas? Sadly no but SM2 will be making the PS5 to console to own this Xmas. I'm not being anti-Xbox here and i wish things were more equal but i really think the current course for Xbox isn't working, if Starfield barely makes a dent what hope does anything else have?
@Moonglow Considering the sheer amount of success the PS5 has been and how much money he's made Sony i doubt he lost his job. The guy's nearly 60 and was travelling between NA, Japan and Europe every month so no wonder he retired.
@InvaderFromSpace I heard the Ada actress played her in that RE film they made a few years back and that's why Capcom hired her as they liked her performance in it.
@TakeItEasy I mean Xbox fanboys do the same you know, check any social media post about Spider-Man 2 and you will see brats playing console wars. Xbox fanboys aren't any better then PS fanboys or Nintendo fanboys you're all as bad as each other and quite honestly all you have done is lump yourself in with them with posts like these.
Really need to get back playing as Baldur's Gate 3 and MK1 have really been taking up my time. Glad its doing so well as its fantastic and the boost Xbox needed.
@Dm9982 Considering what MS done to Rare i want them no where near Nintendo. Anyway Nintendo will never sell especially with where they are now and Japan would never let a western corp buy them, Phil and MS would have been laughed out of the door if they offered to buy them.
As much i love my Xbox this very much reminded me on why i don't like MS and its PR man. Some of the leaks were good though but the bad stuff sure is bad and really shows what MS want to happen.
God this would be terrible and it would kill Nintendo. Thankfully Nintendo would never sell and Japan would never allow it. Yeah this is why Phil isn't the nice guy his PR side portrays.
@tallythwack Interesting how you attack NMS players while doing the exact thing you accuse them off. The NMS community won best gaming community last year something the Xbox and Starfield communities will never win especially if you go on the Starfield subreddit right now.
The changes MS have made to the Rewards has been pretty awful in my opinion, at this point they may as well drop it as they're clearly trying to move away from it.
@Deljo Sure but it crashed and burned. The 90's is when gaming fully took off and everyone wanted to be part of this booming "new" thing, the gaming world we have today is down to what happened in the 90's.
@Kaloudz Baldur's Gate 3 and Zelda will be the ones battling for the crown i can imagine. For me personally it will be between Starfield, Zelda and based on what i've played today Baldur's Gate 3 for my GOTY. I will say there is a small chance Spider-Man 2 could take it for me but we will see. No matter what though 2023 is one of the best ever years in gaming.
Yeah this is true and its why the bar is high for Sony 1st party games, if Spider-Man or The Last of Us was regular 3rd party the quality would be different. Starfield is better due to MS being so involved and funding it, it may suck for PS5 only players but it would have released too early and be in very poor shape if it was on there.
Its not perfect but for a Bethesda launch its pretty well polished, only had 2 crashes and some pretty minor bugs that easily fixed themselves on a restart. Clearly MS buying Bethesda was a great move for the game as the delays and MS getting hands on done wonders. Easily a GOTY contender for me based on nearly 30 hours of play so far.
@tallythwack Got mine by doing the Freestar Collective mission chain, you come across them in the story and can join them, once you finish all the missions for them you get rewarded the Star Eagle a very good ship.
Some advice for new players look into getting a new ship early on because the starter one is really bad. Also turn off film grain, depth of field and motion blur as they really hinder the visuals.
@Dsswoosh Or they have different opinions. This idea of reviews being paid off is so stupid and there's never any credible evidence of it happening, its just fanboys who need to touch grass getting upset their favourite new game isn't getting pointless scores out of 10.
Yeah even on Series S it looks pretty fantastic. I was worried SS versions would see big cutbacks but other then gore seeing a big downgrade (going by comments i've read) the SS version has only really seen minor downgrades. Can't wait to play this on the Series X though when i get one hopefully very soon.
I don't think its a bad game but its not a very good one either. They could add a flawless 60fps with RT included and remove every single bug but the core design issues are still there, FO76 got "good" because they leaned more into making it like FO3/NV with the updates but Redfall can't be transformed like that.
@Cashews I'm talking about the proper mods that are on Xbox versions not the creation club stuff. Skyrim and Fallout 4 have full mod support on Xbox and limited mod support on PS4/PS5 (thanks to Sony's restrictions).
Really loving it though its very early on still, just done a big side mission chain on Mars what was great. Have issues though like the terrible UI, awkward space combat and too much loading. I can't see this beating TotK as my GOTY but i can see it easily making my top 5.
@Jey887 Yeah its a slow start with not much freedom but once it opens up after around 2-3 hours it turns into the game we all wanted it to be. Do i have some minor issues though like a terrible UI (clearly made for PC) but yeah over all i'm enjoying it, currently exploring the Earth's Moon right now.
@lacerz Looks like you're just cherry picking the more negatives stances. At least balance it out with quotes from Forbes and Destructoid or something who loved it.

@ZuneTattooGuy You think this is equal to AC4 visually? Yeah your opinion kinda looses all credibility right there.

Too little too late.

@Alcatraz1763 Get used to it as the SS is going to get more heavily downgraded games and missing features the other versions have as time goes on.

Re: Talking Point: Xbox Fans, How Do You Find Time For All These Amazing 2023 Games?
I work from home and only need to dedicate a few hours each day for my job, i also don't have kids so its very easy to put a lot of time into gaming.
Re: Starfield Has Given Xbox Series X|S Sales A Huge Boost In The UK
You see Phil this is the power of a fantastic AAA 1st party game. Well deserved as the game is fantastic and easily in my top 3 this year.

@Darylb88 The two games are so far apart its pointless comparing. Both do things better then the other and both aim for different things.
Re: Poll: Based On What You've Played So Far, What Score Would You Give Starfield?
9/10 for me. Has a few niggles holding it back from a 10 but despite that its still one of the highlights of this stacked year.
Re: Starfield Is Now Bethesda's Biggest Game Launch Of All Time
Had a couple of days off because Baldur's Gate 3 but i plan on giving a whole night to it tonight, fantastic game and well done Bethesda/MS.

Immature stuff from i'm guessing PS fanboys.

Playing both this and Baldur's Gate 3 is bliss.

@Fishticon I get what she's saying, the 90's kinda started what we think of gaming and she's a 90's kid who grew up playing MK.

@Dsswoosh 🙄 Provide hard evidence to support these claims.
This site is an independent site like PQ and NL as far as know, if MS had any hand in the site we would have starfield review by now on here 🙄
Re: Starfield's Game Pass Upgrade Is Currently The Best-Selling Item On Xbox
@BrilliantBill The $30 is paying for the expansion and a skin pack, the early access is just a nice bonus.

@Wingman709 I mean reviews are opinions not facts, IGN is IGN as usual but its their opinion just like its Destructoid's opinion its a 10.
Re: Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think Of Starfield So Far
@Kaloudz Just watched Digital Foundry's video and yeah its pretty stable and bug free. MS was clearly the best thing to happen for the game.
Re: Roundup: Here's What The Critics Think Of Starfield So Far
@Snake_V5 Most PS exclusives are not 95%+.
